STANISLAVSKI'S METHOD ACTING-PART 2
Hello Everyone, So I am back with my next post on Method Acting. I hope you aren't procrastinating this pandemic and did practice my instructions for Sense Memory. As I said we will be talking in detail about all aspects of method acting, and so today its gonna be on Affective Memory or rather let me put it in straight words Emotional Memory. Emotions really play an Important part in Day to Day life, but when it comes to an actor how passionately you relate to your emotions and execute it on Screen or Stage is a question!! So without wasting much time lets's head forward to our topic!!

AFFECTIVE MEMORY OR EMOTIONAL MEMORY
INTRODUCTION
Emotional memory is basically the way expressing emotions.Emotions doesn't mean you have to cry! To show Anger,Love, Hatred, Joy, Sadness or any kind of sense or emotion.You should be able to emote emotion using Affective Memory. One needs to have the hang of it! to be able to express emotions in every situation, and express the way character needs not the way you want it to be done. We tend to experience many emotions in our daily lives, its an Internal Process and serve as a supporting element to your emotions!!
Talking about self control,Self Control is essential and one must know how to control your inhibitions on stage. Its absolutely alright if you get carried away but also on a Physical and Psychological level you must be able to control yourself. Pertaining to circumstances you should be able to Adapt, and this can be attained through rigorous rehearsals.

People having a Lump of emotions can definitely be a great actor. If its Sorrow, Anger, Happiness,
Bravery etc.,one should know how to portray it. An actor should be able to showcase what the scenario is as per the character not he/she posses qualities. Actor should have a note on the calibre and try to make it real without Losing Control. New pain will drain your emotions, but if
you recollect old emotions or pain it turns out to be fruitful and one after one you should emote emotions accordingly!!

Put some light on Childhood experiences, childhood instances can definitely cater your emotions. Emotional memory is a form of recreation. Recreate or Reinvent yourself,but in a truthful way!
Now lets move on to exercises..
EXERCISE ON EMOTIONAL MEMORY
1ST EXERCISE,

Sit on a chair,close your eyes be RELAX and be compose, remember your past.
Consider for example, if you ever encounter a dead person/dead body. How will the Environment be around?What will be the Color of the body? Smell of the house? How was the Posture of people attending funeral? How were people crying and try to visualize it. How was the Feel of it, what was the last word? And how was the people reacted? How did you react personally? Now look at the opposite side of it, if you ever encounter a laugh on this occasion. How will you react? Emotions before recalling incident and emotions after recalling incident needs to be noted by you. Do not yell or cry aloud, if you Loose Emotions and be Sentimental in exercise you won't be able to give proper justice to it. Do not hamper yourself or near ones in your surrounding..!!
Do this exercise for about 15 mins!

2ND EXERCISE,
Its an extension of the previous one, try doing any of your Household Chores. This time you got to do any work and try to Recall any of your instances past events which may have hold on to your anger, joy, hatred, etc.
And witness the travel of emotions within you or make anyone else witness it. The way you Change your expressions while Engaging in any of your work when embodied with emotions.
3RD EXERCISE
Advance this exercise by giving them Lines.Try to give it a Shape through lines. Take any of a play character and recite given dialogues, try to connect yourself or your emotions with the character. Perform it for 15-20 mins or further as per your need. But I suggest you to keep on working for it until you attain emotions.
