PLEASE DON'T STOP THE MUSIC!!

To many people, this might be a question! As to why did I write the title of the post in such a way..or..Am I in a singing mood. Well to all your questions here is the answer, YES I am in a music mood, just love the way music nurtures your soul and refreshes your mood. And so is today's topic that i'll dedicate to MUSIC, and how one can use music in help developing a character. I am sure we use music for various purpose and also one's playlist clearly define the taste one holds for music.

Also the content that I have used includes Lee Strasberg exercises, that will surely pay way to make you achieve character development through this journey.
Music can create euphoric behaviors and catapult you back to places in time. It helps nurturing your responses to deliver every emotion that you work on.!! While going through an audition process upon receiving a script you can plug in earphones and get into the mood of the character/protagonist/antagonist.

Also late actor Sushant Singh Rajput heard song Namo Namo Shankara from Kedarnath more than 50 times to make believe the character of a travel guide and be religious towards his role in the film.

Well, now lets move forward towards exercise through which you can achieve characterisation through music.
  • Sit in chair at home and relax yourself by keeping your eyes closed, listening to two different pieces for about 15-20 mins each time, genre that you choose for yourself will create imagination and keep a track of the specific part that stirs your emotions.

  • Are you weeping, feeling nostalgic, exuberant, bored, pity, hopeless! Are you transported to a different place or time? If you have a strong emotional response, add a monologue and let the words being affected with your mood.If you're laughing, speak the lines through laughter and so on!

  • When you are finished with first piece of music, return to relaxation and try different piece of music. Again add a monologue to it and experience the change.

  • As you adapt to the circumstances, you can complicate the exercise by going back and forth between two pieces of music to see how monologue changes in tone, meaning and behaviorism. Keep track of the music which gave you the strongest response.

Here's a list of music genre and the mood created through it, how one can hear music and attain character development process.
